Lt. Ana Camilla Maria Romero Babtiste

-Early Life-

Ana was born in Marbella, Spain to Commander Armando Luis Romero (Ret) and Petty Officer Elisa Noel Theresa Babtiste of the UEE Navy. She was the youngest of 4 children and only daughter. Ana's brothers, like her parents enlisted early and were model cadets.

At the age of 10, after her father retired from the military, the family was moved to Monaco and Ana began to show a rebellious streak, often getting into trouble with local law enforcement. Through out her tweens she was in trouble for a list of offenses; tresspassing, theft, and indecency. Still, it wasn't until she was 15 before she stole her first car.

This was when she found her first love - speed. She frequently found herself involved in street races with stolen vehicles that more often than not found themselves a wreck by the end of her adventure. At the age of 16 she was sent to a military prep school where she continued to act out, though rarely in any way that would get her into lasting trouble.

This is also where she found her second love - flying.

-Military Life-

Ana began to calm down a bit under the regimented lifestyle of military schooling. She still pushed the boundaries of what her instructors would tolerate, but began to learn more to test the limits rather than just ignoring them. As such, she actually began to flourish. Likewise. her instructors knew her attitude and love for flying made her a natural pilot candidate, and began to push her that way. She was hooked, taking further duties to earn additional flight time. As a gift for her 18th birthday, and because of how much she had grown her parents purchased her her first ship, a stock Origin 350r. In her free time she worked on it, becoming a bit of a mechanic herself, and racing it on weekends when she could get leave.

The attack on Vega occurred shortly before her graduation, and with that her brothers were sent into the war effort. She enlisted immediately after graduating, taking to the training with an uncharacteristic seriousness. Her instructors would still note a certain undercurrent of defiance in her, but it came through as a laser focus and tendency to push things (such as the chain of command or her equipment's abilities) as far as she could without crossing the breaking point.

She graduated from the flight academy near the top of her class and was shipped out almost immediately, her experience and reputation allowing her to quickly advance to the position of Flight Leader for her squadron.

-Recent History-

For the first months of the war Ana (Cammy to her squad when not being official) showed exemplary service and natural leadership, leading her Flight through various cargo and supply missions through hostile territory. More than once she was able to drop personnel into contested area, leading to the UEE being able to take and hold strategically vital locations.

Things began to change when she received word of the death of her youngest brother Gabe (First SGT, UEE Infantry). She put it out of her mind, mind at first. He was a soldier, they said. He died for the commonwealth, her superiors said. He was a war hero, her parents said.

After the events of the war, and the death of Gabriel, Cammy found herself adrift. She gradually grew resentful of the UEE and eventually packed a small bag into her 350, setting off into the Void to be as far away from civilization as she could. She raced to support herself; she quickly realized that on a galactic scale, she really wasn't very good and didn't win often, but between what little she could make off of racing and doing the odd courier job she usually could make enough credits to keep herself clothed and moderately drunk.

Trivia

  • Was raised Catholic. Still semi-practices.

  • Always wears a St. Christopher medal around her neck. Often keeps one as a charm somewhere on her ships as well.

  • Loves cats. She has a habit of picking up any stray cats she comes across to live on the Jabberwock.

Rumors

  • She keeps an unregistered hangar of rare and expensive ships somewhere in the verse. This is where she also keeps her racing vehicles.

  • The real Ana Romero died during an engagement in the Vandull war. Someone else took her name and identity to start a new life after the war ended.

  • Once beat a man unconscious with her bare hands, while in prison.

-Lost in space (or, Bootlegging for fun and profit)-

Wherein she took up a life of alcoholism and drifting, generally in that order. Bar fights were common. When racing, expensive ship repairs more so. After her first major win she got the idea of using her ship as a bootlegger - adding small volume, high value smuggling to her repertoire.

-Jabberwocky (or, the beginning of the middle)-

Wherein she finds a run down Anvil Valkyrie at a UEE property auction and uses what little funds she has amassed to purchase it. She refits it and uses it as her main home and base of operations, taking larger jobs with the extra cargo space. In one such job she claims a derelict Reclaimer as part of payment for a job gone wrong, and spends the next year rebuilding it, gradually bringing on crew to assist and holding frequent raves on the factory floor.

-Via Caelis (or, 'You are Here')-

Wherein like minded people tired of the UEE are drawn to Cammy and the Jabberwock, creating an extended family of sorts in that eventually coalesces into the Flotilla. Via Caelis is born.
